Paula Belmar
Contemporary Visual Artist
Her early work gave rise to the series Urban Nocturnes (2012–2022), a body of paintings focused on nocturnal urban landscapes, developed through independent research in photography, composition, and atmosphere. The series explored the relationship between architecture, artificial light, and the emotional resonance of the city at night. Today, the works from this period are held entirely in private collections.
In her most recent series, Dark Radiance (2024– ), Belmar shifts her exploration toward organic form. Light no longer reflects the architecture of the city but emerges from within the pictorial matter itself. Through compositions of intense chromatic presence, the paintings seek to evoke a visual and sensory experience where light, color, and form unfold in a more intimate and immersive way.
Her practice has developed through a sustained self-directed process grounded in study, experimentation, and discipline, shaping a trajectory defined by personal inquiry and continuous formal evolution.
Belmar lives and works in Chile, from where she continues to project her work toward the international art scene.
